News and Notes

Meeting Location.  SAAS has changed the location of  its scheduled monthly meeting starting in February 2008. Meetings are now held in the Lion's Field Adult & Senior Citizens Center at 2809 Broadway (Mulberry at Broadway). map

Thursday, September 4, 7:00 PM. General Meeting. Mark Klym, Texas Parks and Wildlife will speak on “Wildlife in South Texas into the Future”

Please check the recent update on the Field Trips page. The original listing was in error. The Avenue A/Botanical Gardens trip is schedule for this Sunday, September 7. The Missions field trip is scheduled later in the month.

Make Your Reservations! Nature Photographer Greg Lasley will be the speaker at our Annual Dinner on Thursday, October 2. Greg's  new book entitled Greg Lasley's Texas Wildlife Portraits will be available in September through Texas A&M Press. Additional information is available on the General Meetings page.

More Birding Events

September 11-14. Hummer / Bird Celebration, Rockport, Texas. This annual event features speakers, field trips and exhibits.

November 5-9. Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival, Harlingen, Texas. This festival will focus on Field trips, a trade show and special presentations by internationally renowned birders and authors of wildlife biology.
